I have a vintage NOS Sheifer Aluminum 10 1/2" 143 tooth flywheel (think its for a 68-69 Body BB), I was wondering if this would work on my 340? I have a 10 1/2" stock steel flywheel now but not sure how many teeth are on the SB one, mine is from 1972 I believe. Would the different teeth count make the difference? Both flywheels are internally balanced too.....Thanks alot! :glasses7:

I know you said 10.5" and 143... but 10.5" is 130 and 11" is 143. You will also need to worry about the Bell Housing (will a 11" fit) and is it a 6 or 8 bolt flywheel (does it match your crank). And lastly your clutch...which I'm sure you already knew would need to be changed.

You can't put a 143 tooth wheel into a bell housing for a 130 tooth wheel, it wont fit.

Ok, here are some pics

Interesting...but as you said, must be big block only because of 143 tooth ring gear. The physical size of the ring gear will be your limiting factor. Not sure if aftermarket SB bell housings accept a larger 143. Or if it is even possible because the location of the starter would changed based on larger ring gear (interfere with exhaust or clutch linkage?).

Do you happen to know how many teeth a SB one has? I forgot LOL :glasses7:

I think it might be 130 for a SB?

Looks like that aluminum one is drilled for external balance, the other is not, unless it's on the other side.
