So who has been hunting this year?

Went to a location the locals call the "deer highway" due to the amount of tracks one sees out there. It's a long ways out in the middle of nowhere and found this built there. Really well built too! Took a bear using it :p

Too early for this little guy! Our current season is 4 points or better until October

Turned a corner and spotted two of these bad boys facing off. One took off, the other decided to stick around for awhile. No open season on Moose in my area anymore sadly.

Got my second bear. This was a big bruin. Measured 6'2 from tip of the tail to the tip of his nose! Weighed just over 400lbs. His head was 11 inches across.

Shot the bear at 175 yards with my K98 "Sniper Rifle"

I love shooting but I'm not a hunter. Either way you gotta love those views and spending time in the woods. Looks like you had a good time. Thanks for sharing pics.

Sweet k98!!

bear sausage?? HUM..... maybe ya could send me a sample......LOL.... there is an occsasional Ozark bear in the hills.... if we could figure out something to cook out of coyote!!!!!!

Very nice bear you took there. Hunting is just about to get underway hear in VA. There is an open youth day this coming Saturday, and then our bow season for whitetails comes in the following Saturday. My favorite time of year.

Funny to me that white tails are rare there.
They were just talking about not hitting deer on WSB radio today.
I think they said the November is the worst month for that in Georgia.
They are like the plague here with no natural predators except Billy Bob and his 06.

Our biggest deer population is the Mule Deer in my area with White Tails being the rarer. Some spots near here though the white tail out number the mule deer. All depends on location.

Driving home after hunting I spotted these two little youths on the side of the road.

I stopped to take pictures of them and they started walking towards me.

Stopped to scratch an itch. The other one heard a vehicle on the other side of the valley.

They weren't scared of me at all

Sure look cute when they are that young. Shortly after this picture a vehicle came across the bridge and scared them up the mountain side.

Picture I took of them from the other side of the Valley. Sure hope they survive the winter.

kinda heartbreaking to see the forests gone up there but still beautiful country , I remember flying over and seeing nothing but green now it's more brown than green year round eh ! nice black , one of the sparkies at work got a moose last week in the interior , @800lbs probably 3-4 years old .

Thanks for the photo essay. Great pics and hunt. Another couple of weeks before I can get out for deer. Already have a little bit of moose in the freezer.
