would a 73 318 have a forged crank? and if not wut are the years it did have one? how can you id a crank?

Sadly, '72 was the last year for forged crank 318s. '67-'72 were forged, '73 up were cast. Cast cranks have a sharp, well defined parting line while the forged cranks do not. The forging parting line is around 1/4" wide.

1973 Will Be A Cast Crank. I Not Sure Of What Years Used A Steel Crank, Maybe 1969 & Earlier. I Know That I Used 318-3 Truck Steel Cranks From Ed Hamburger In The Early 80's. A Cast Crank Will Have A Thin Cast Parting Line On The Rod Throws & A Wide Ground Down Parting Line On The Rod Throws.
