Hi all,

A good friend of mine's dad was a big classic Mopar fan and drag racer for a number of years. He sadly passed away about two years ago and now my friend's mom is ready to clean out the garage space (they already sold the remaining drag car to a cousin) especially since cars aren't my friend's thing. Knowing I'm into Mopars he invited me to come over and look at the collection of parts to see if there's anything that would work in my 73 Duster and also if there was anything else that might be worth the trouble of selling as opposed to taking to the scrap yard. Their main goal is to clean out the garage and not have randoms showing up to his mom's house to buy parts etc. I'd also like to see anything that might be sold/sent to a "good home" especially if it's hard to find (I'd rather have it used then recycled etc) but I don't want to put a million things in my garage waiting for that one special buyer who needs a random part worth $20.

If anyone has any general advice about what below might be worth looking to sell, or if it makes sense to try and offload everything to one person/shop etc it would be appreciated. Unfortunately very little of this has documentation that goes with the part. I Completely, 100%, understand that without seeing them in person it might be really hard to have an opinion (if it's worth it to sell or the value) so any guidance at all is appreciated and if the answer is "take it all to the scrapyard" that's also absolutely valid. I attached a few pics below to give a genearl idea.

Thanks!

Parts (that I could ID and felt might have some value):
Two 1966-72 440 engine blocks;
a BUNCH of headers for 66-72 440s; a set of pistons/connecting rods for 440 blocks
A 73-78 400 engine block (this is the one I"m thinking of keeping/having built for my Duster)
One engine block that for the life of me I couldn't find a stamped number on but I'm guessing it's another 440
A driveshaft that I didn't get a chance to look at closer yet
Four crankshafts, one with a tag marking the dimensions but not the other three from what I could tell
Transmission housing pieces. carbs and about a million (rough estimate there) gears, bolts, pushrods etc
Racing slicks

That's a lot of misc. stuff. If your friend is looking to unload more than make money then sell the lot for a few 1-2000 at most. If he is looking to make money then sell lots like all the transmission parts or a subset of the transmission parts as a lot then another lot of trans parts. If he is looking to maximize the money made then selling each piece is the way to go, BUT as you know, that is A LOT of time and effort.

Going to Mopar swap meets (Carlyle etc) and other non Mopar specific swap meets can net more BUT keep the prices low to unload as much as posable.

the sale model here on FABO (IMHO) is sell each part for 5-50 bucks and people will buy, sell for 50-200 bucks not so much , sell lots of smalls for 5-10 bucks and they sell.

I personally have bought "smalls" lots for 10-15.00 just because of one part in the lot. What happens to the rest of the lot is my kid's problem

Appreciate everybody's comments and eyeballs. I'm happy to help set up a sale of the lot to somebody reputable (just not wanting anybody shady/creepy at his mom's house), the only thing I'm eyeing for myself is the 400 block and the engine rotisserie stand but happy to let basically everything else go in one shot to anybody making a half reasonable offer and who can clear it all out in short order. If they go on to sell all the parts themselves and make money etc, God bless.

The heads won't be worth much. Scrap prices. Since aluminum heads are so reasonable now, your cast iron crowd has been reduced to those looking for correct factory numbered heads. That's a pretty small crowd. Good Luck though.

Blocks, cranks and parts that are together (carbs/distributors/Camshafts) are pretty easy to sell.

Transmissions that are torn apart.... good luck

Iron heads, unless they are specific, like stage maxie casting etc... not much call for them

IMO, price it for a lot, using the easy parts to sell as the base price and give the rest away if you aren't willing to sort it out. Otherwise, just give the small stuff away in one go and hope the next person takes the time to find a home for the loose stuff.

I see a pretty nice valve spring compressor on the wall, if there's a nice cert. bellhousing to go w/that block plate, could bring some coin. Good blocks & cranks worth a bit, as stated, iron heads not going to bring a ton unless they're MaxWedge or '67 closed chamber 440 heads....unchecked cheap, green-checked for damage/cracks $50-$200/pair for rebuildable cores depending on the castings.
