that is the same as a 1951 dodge coronet...

217.8 c.i. 6 cylinder engine, 3-speed manual

"The grille of the 1951-52 model was similar in shape to the 1950 grille, but with the elimination of the thick vertical center bar and the addition of six vents running horizontally between the top and center bars"

some information here about the early coronets:
http://www.allpar.com/cars/dodge/coronet.html

that is more of a collector car, not a hot rodder. parts will be very difficult to find.
changing the drive train in a car that is in such good original shape would be sinful.

it's a flathead 6 engine, i cannot find information about the transmission yet. i'm guessing it's common to many dodge cars and trucks of that time, so it shouldn't be too rare.

I have no clue what it says. I can't read French. Never did take that class in school.

The trans is not the same as an A-833.
Tell him to buy it if he wants, but keep it original.
It's not worth buying it and modifying it.

the only problem he see is the column shift
and wonder if he can get floor shifter for it

definately one you would want to keep original. that would be a cruiser. i can imagine that if the drivetrain were modified it would never be the same again.

3 on the three

ugly interior
