To remove do you just pop it out with a screwdriver or it there something special. Don't want to scar up the shoulder. Thanks

I made a tool for that, but it's still hard to not scar the seat. No big deal, just smooth it before the new one goes in.
But FYI
That seal usually lasts forever. If the rubber is not hard, not torn, the spring is still there, and the knife-edge is still somewhat apparent, I usually leave them alone.
