I am looking to upgrade my front discs. I would like to go to at least a 12 inch set up if possible. I already have the big ball joint set up installed. Wilwood? Masterpower Brakes? Baer? Any recommendations?

OK I am looking for feed back on any good disc brake system. Any brand ...any size. Likes and dislikes. Is Wilwood the best or just the best at marketing? Which manufacturer is easiest to get parts for. etc. etc.

I have done 3 kinds of brake upgrades for the front of A bodies. I have put 73 - 76 disc on the front of the Scamp, to get 4.5 pattern, worked well. I put small pattern SSBC kit on the Demon to keep 4' BP. This kit is very good for the money and has both bolt patterns in it, and stops great. On my 65 Cuds I have Wilwood brakes that go on the 10 drum spindles. This kit is expensive but I bought it from someone who didn't finish his project for a deal. It has aluminium hubs and looks great (haven't driven it yet). Both after market kits are easy to put together. I haven't had to buy any extra parts yet so that I can't tell you about.
The 2 pics are of disc kit for the Cuda, and a p[ic of the disc's on the Demon

Thanks...I spoke with SSBC today and they said that they only carry an option of drum to disc. I already have a disc setup. Magnumforce has a 13 inch 6 piston that is $2k. They said they will soon have a 12.5 with 4 pistons for about 800 bucks. I think I will wait for that one.

On upgrading to at least 12" rotors, the factory large bolt pattern has two setups, including the 11.75" police package rotor setup. Thats the least expensive route. On the moparts message board there is a regular there that makes available a caliper mounting bracket that can mount Viper calipers or the Wilwoods. The member's name is Andy F, I think his name is Andy Finkbeiner. I will check.

I have driven the 11.75" factory setup on a 1970 340 Dart Swinger; the setup stops on a dime and returns 9 cents! Highly recommended for an A body!

Check out Andy's website!

The 11.75" rotors require the use of 15" wheels. Going to 12" may require even a bigger wheel, something to check and keep in mind.

Great info ....Thanks.

The 11.75" rotors were available on the late 1970s Cordobas and the like.

15" wheels will be required, but moving to the larger bolt circle (from 4" to 4.5") also requires the 15" wheel move.

Moving to the larger bolt pattern (4.5" circle) has a lot of benefits, including larger rotors, larger ball joints, and wheel choices far more extensive than the 4" bolt circle(small bolt pattern that was A body factory standard from 1964 - 1972, and even showed up on some '73-74 A-bodies with drum brakes!).

Hope this helps.

Check out MoparAction magazine website for info. on the large bolt circle upgrade.
