putting 3/8 line in my Duster. Will have a mechanical fuel pump. I am seeing recommendations to use a 40 micron filter between the pump and carb, but am seeing conflicting opinions about a 100 micron between the tank and pump. Some are saying with the sock in the tank it will be to much of a restriction adding a filter before the pump. Thoughts?

I put a king-sized EFI filter at the back, in 1999, and no other filter. I have never changed it in 125,000 miles. My car goes 93 in the 1/8; you be the judge.
From the HO pump it's all steel to the dual-feed, no regulator,no return, no filter, Just a short jumper to make jet changes a lil easier.

the factory used a new tank, sock, then a pump, then the filter, then sometimes a small filter at the carb. how old is your fuel tank? my Carter electric pump has an inlet screen, then a 3/8" metal filter, then carb
