Fuel neck trunk seal

Anyone ever have trouble getting filler neck trunk seal installed..?
I did have it installed before new tank went in, but I remember it being a bit difficult getting lined up with screw holes... And now, with new tank installed it seems impossible to get it in place. Will add pictures later when home from work, but if anyone has had a similar issue, chime in..

Which tank are you installing? There are aftermarket tanks out there that the filler hole is in the wrong place (too far forward).

The 3rd tank I bought for my 64 finally aligned correctly.

Mine fought me. I'm trying to remember. I think I loosened both straps or removed 1 strap on tank. Then caught the screws and repositioned the tank.

Which tank are you installing? There are aftermarket tanks out there that the filler hole is in the wrong place (too far forward).

Tanks Inc. tank for 72 Demon.
Thing is, my filler tube is only going to go so far, left or right... not really any "play" there because of outside flange where cap goes.

No matter what, do not tighten ANYTHING up till EVERYTHING is in place.
