The fuel pump out of nowhere started squirting fuel out of a hole on the left side (viewed from the passenger side). I bought a new fuel pump and I am getting ready to install it... but I am curious why all the sudden this happened.

Also important to note this past week the filler tube grommet started leaking like crazy. Replaced the grommet and all is fine back there.

The diaphram is broken in your fuel pump. It happens. I once had a Formula 400 Firebird come into the shop with pieces of tooth picks shoved in the vent holes. LOL

thanks REDFISH... going to change it once the baby goes to bed tonight.

Check your oil too, sometimes when the diaphragm goes bad it lets gas get pumped into the crankcase.

oil seems to be fine... but I will probably change it anyhow. Thanks for the advise.

changed the fuel pump last night. Have not started it back up yet... giving it time to cure.

Started it up this afternoon. All is well and no more fuel leaking.

I believe this newer gas eats fuel pumps for breakfast. I have to replace fuel pumps every couple of years because they leak.
