Fuel Sump

I installed a Jegs sump in my fuel tank for possible future performance un-grades. It has 2 ports, but I need just the 1 for now. To plug the unused port do I need a tapered pipe plug, or a cap with either an O ring or gasket to seal it? I just want to buy the right thing the first time.

What I have in there now is just to keep dirt & dust out as it's not a tight thread.... and the fitting is a hacked-together piece for the same reason: and it's time to finish plumbing the fuel lines.

what are the threads? npt? sae?

1/2" NPT I believe.... I just wasn't sure the threads seal with plumbers tape or thread seal, or if I need a gasket or O ring.

seal the threads with high temp rtv or plumbers tape.
