Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about replacing my fuel tank in my 65 Dart. It is the non vented style tank.

Would it be beneficial to replace with the later vented tank and filler?

Engine will be a fairly mellow 408 w/ electric fuel pump and 3/8" lines front to back.

There is a possibility I will go turbo in a few years and will use the stock fuel line as a return. Will the early non vented stuff work for that application or necessitate the use of later stuff?

Why do you say a 65 is a non-vented tank? My 65 Dart has a vent to the outside from the filler tube. It is a ~1/4" tube that snakes up high in the trunk, then passes thru the rubber filler grommet to below the car. The problem is that the exit would clog from under-coating or road gunk. Anyway, buying a later vented tank should be no problem, you will just have more assured venting.

This is a case where understanding the reason for year designations matter. People might think they can't get a 65 fuel tank since none are listed, but a later tank will fit fine and may have desireable upgrades.
