What are the significant differences outside of the price?

I have a 1964 Plymouth Barracuda with a 1978 Dodge 360 engine. Nothing fancy but want to understand the reasons for buying one type of fuel tank over another.

IMHO...

it all depends on what look you are going for.

they all will provide years of use provided you maintain them and do what is needed to prevent moisture from getting into the fuel. My OEM is 54 years old and has a hand full of orange spots inside.

Technically stainless should last the longest do to its rust preventative nature ( assuming it is really low iron stainless)
Ni-Terne looks promising as long as the layers are applied correctly
and good old galvanizing has been around for a LOOOG time.

unless you are 20 and plan on keeping the car for the next 60 years in suboptimal conditions, I say buy the one that makes you happy.

Good advice. It will be garaged as long as I live but have a granddaughter that will own it someday.

Thanks,

Good question, I went with a Ni-terne one that was made in Canada (I don't trust off-shore when it comes to rust resistance) so far it still looks good. I put a couple coats of metallic silver paint on it anyway. A stainless one would have been the only upgrade to that. If you have the coin, go for it. I stayed away from the ones that suggest using a sealer inside.
I do suggest trying to re-use your original sender, the new ones can be inaccurate. Buy a Sender lock ring wrench. A hammer and screwdriver is fine on the original but not on the repop. And to that end I bought 3 additional lock rings w/ gaskets (from different sources) and they all had small differences and I was able to choose one that worked best. Get a new mat for on top of the tank( Vans has a nice one).
Good luck

Got me the Ni-terne from CI and the mat from Detroit Muscle Tech. Like your idea about the sender.

THanks,

Terry

I would buy a 304 stainless steel tank for $200 and forget about ever having to replace it in your granddaughters son's lifetime. But you already bought a Ni-terne, good choice on purchasing the DMT mat.
