Hi All!!! A little Mopar **** for you all. My 360/904/8.75 Combo. After a Distasterous 1st time at the track...... I lost a frt u-joint cap @ 80 Mph causing a major vibration, to cause this:

Now 4 or so months later it's all back together. New Trans Case, just swapped internals they were all fine. Added a 2.74 1st gear set and a 4.2 ratio apply lever to Trans, New Aluminum Driveshaft, New B&M Pro Ratchet Shifter (Shifter I had was Junk) and a mini starter.

So, I did a little testing in the Driveway today :cheers: Enjoy !!!

You are one sick pup. You wife is really going to be pissed off when you take out the palm trees.
My x use to live in that town. I use to live in Palm Harbor. Don't know why they called it that.......no plam trees and no harbor.

At least you have palm trees.
 
You want that new drivetrain to last? Try letting the RPM come down a bit before banging gears. LOL, oh yeah what is the banging noise I hear everytime it goes in Reverse? Is it just me or was there something there? I like it Eric, now don't wait till November to go to the track.

Have you checked the back lash on the rearend?I know its got new front and rear u joints in it,maybe the pinions got a little play there?

I herd the clunk sound too! Pinion8) forward and reverse.

I'm thinking that a christmas tree would nicely compliment the other trees. Bwahahaha!

I was wondering the same thing about that clunk going into reverse. Are you SURE the sprag in the trans is okay?? Hopefully you replaced it with a bolt in sprag...

Sounds real good Eric. Can't wait to hear about a first run.
I also heard the clunk, that sound needs to be looked into.
 
looks like way to much fun, I am jealous. Hope I can be testing mine with in the next couple of months. Sounded great

First of all the clunk in reverse has been standard issue in Chrysler RWD vehicles for two forevers, where you guys been?

Secondly the sprag does not function in reverse, the rear band is applied and the sprag is out of the equation.

Thirdly a bolt in sprag doesn't mean anything in a 904, they are already bolted in or riveted in, not pressed into the case like a 727. You can get a bolt in sprag as a replacement though if you've screwed yours up. :)

Chrysler has addressed the reverse clunk on a couple of occasions. The first involved shimming the side and spider gears of the differential with selective thickness washers and resetting the backlash. Then about a decade later they came out with a revised rear band and rear drum. Although these procedures helped they still clunked.

Embrace your Mopar heritage with all it's quirks and idiosyncrasies.

Most of you guys are probably too young to even remember the unique sound those old Mopar gear reduction starters made.

Wow, bummer Eric. @#$%^&*ed up that trans pretty good. That clunk almost sounds like a rear u-joint or excessive end play in the ring & pinion gears??? It`s good to see that you`ve got it fixed and she`s back smoking `em. I think most people start at around 15lbs. with those ET`s.

Guitar...........I remember that sound...it went on for 10 seconds after the car started. Lol!
