I was wanting to add on some extra fused circuits for accessories and figured I could updated my old fuse box with atc style fuses that would also incorporate extra slots for a few more circuits while still using the factory wiring harness, unlike painless wiring where they send an entire prewired box and harness. Has anyone done this? If so what fuse block would u suggest?

1---The problem is, original Mopar stuff is badly underfused, but not all circuits got back to the fuse panel. This means that if you buy a newer panel, more fuses, you'll have to dig into and chop up the harness to separate the splice points, and bring the circuits, now separated, on extended wires back to the panel

2---And if you have not you need to read this MAD article about bulkhead connectors and troubles

http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/amp-gauges.shtml

After reading the above, it ain't all that hard to convert your ammeter to a voltmeter, see this very informative thread:

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=119480&highlight=ammeter+conversion

3---You need to think about adding headlight relays, and maybe even relays for other circuits. In my case I mimicked more modern stuff and used a Voyager power box under the hood--relays and fuses

4--the fuse panel is almost never the entire problem, connectors at such places as the signal switch, igntion switch, headlight switch, blower switch are many times deteriorated and need attention.

What all this rambling boils down to is, for all the work in chopping into things adding a new panel, a new harness might not be that much more work.
