Hey all.

Bracket at the bottom of my '62 Lancer's gas pedal gave up the ghost. I need either a new bracket, or a new aftermarket pedal assembly. Don't care which. Don't really care if the pedal is original or not. Any ideas?

I found this on EBAY... not sure if it would work with my 62 (length, accelerator rod linkage common with B-Bodies?). Mopar 62-64 Belvedere 440 62-66 A body Automatic Transmission Gas Brake Pedals | eBay (Ebay item 152145430772).

UPDATE: Seller was nice enough to reply to me, and told me he tried this before in a early A-body like my '62, and it did NOT work. So still looking for help here!

thanks all!

I have a '62-'65 B-body accelerator pedal assembly in my '62 Lancer. I put it there when I swapped to a cable-type throttle. It works great. But no, it is not a direct drop-in that lets you keep the stock rotating-rod type throttle linkage.

On my '62 Valiant, I bought an accelerator pedal and a direct-pull Lokar cable from Summit. (Some people say other brands of cable are better, but I don't know. One nice thing about Lokar is that they have good customer service. I have heard that other brands of cable are more robust, though.)

To attach the pedal to the floor, I used threaded couplers from the hardware store, cut to the right length and brazed into place (upright) on the floor so that they hold the pedal in the right position when it is bolted to them.

Thanks to both of you. Like many things 60-62 Mopar A-Body, aftermarket body is kinda weak for them. I like your ideas, and I might go that way if no one shows up with a solid bracket for sale from a parts car! :-) Or I might also try to fab a bracket out of some sheet metal. I'll give the parts search a few more days. No rush here! Thanks!

Note that '63-'66 Dart/Valiant/Barracuda Slant-6 accelerators are the same as the one in your '62 (except '65-'66 cars with factory A/C).
