gas prices? WHY????

-
I was just at 3 day training sessions for the OSSA {Oil Sands Safety Association } and had this talk with several dozen people from Kitimat and Ft Mac , the common misconception is that the important number is the price to make a profit ,the real important number is the actual cost to extract , they can mitigate the rest by storing for future or cutting transportation and refining margins but when it gets down below the cost to extract the lights have to go out period , in the oil sands some fields can get down to around 35 bucks but most are looking at @ 45 bucks , US fracking costs 45-65 bucks , Arab oil is stick a straw in the ground and out it comes at 10 bucks . I mentioned in my first post that Russia signed a trillion dollars worth of futures contracts with China , this was at the 80+ range as mentioned by oldmopardude the Chinese are not happy but Russia isn't hurting as much as your propaganda whores have been telling you . The reality of Russia is they have been increasing their Military budget by @ 200 billion a year while the US has been cutting , Russia now has achieved tactical nuclear superiority ,that statement comes from the heart of the US military , let that sink in before you start your sabre rattling folks then couple that with their economic linking to China -the number 3 nuclear power .

as many have said before, maybe not a good thing if Russia and china hook up militarily!?
maybe we bought Russia decades ago, maybe the politicians sold us out to china decade ago!???? LOL I admit i'm not smart enough to understand all that might go on in this world. I worry for the future of my kids and grandkids though.
I still sruggle to get my old mopars running, cause I didn't pay attention in physics class back in 1965!!??? LOL

and oh yea, WHEN is price of motor oil and atf going down!! LOL
Honestly, I doubt ever.
There really is no good reason for it either. I'm buying conventional 5W30 oil at $2.30 a qt from my supplier, I'm reselling it at $4.17 a qt. My full synthetic really went down, it's at $2.49 a qt and I sell at $7.49 to $9.49 a qt. I have a long way to go to make up for those $19.99 oil changes just to get traffic in the door. I'm used to buying oil in bulk, I mean I buy several hundred gallons at a time. I went to buy a quart of oil at a PepBoys for my sons car a few weeks back, $6.00 a qt! I thought real hard about adjusting my oil prices.
But it's the same thing for diesel, K1 and propane, from what I understand these are all easier and cheaper to produce from crude (correct me if I'm wrong) than gasoline, yet they cost way more.

Propane's cheaper than gasoline in my neighborhood....always has been. Diesel is always more.

So what exactly is the difference between dead, and REALLY dead.
This is why I don't put to much stock in who has more nuclear weapons, as no one wants to make perfectly good real estate useless for a hundred plus years.
Like George Carlin say's "It's all just a big dick waving prick fight."

I'm looking forward to a huge change of powers and borders anyway. :)
The same old **** is getting pretty boring.

wish I was smart enough to know how to play the crude oil market and make $$$ to buy old mopar car parts!!
I hear on TV tonight, Russia's main (maybe only) source of income ( except vodka?) is sellng crud e oil? since price of crud e is so low, their national income is in the toilet. I guess that is our stragedy to inforce economic santions on them?

Well! I try to avoid what the media tells me. At least when it comes to regarding it as the actual and absolute truth. But! Here's something to ponder. Back in the early to mid eighties oil and gasoline plummeted. As a result, the Soviet Union collapsed and has never been the same. Reagans strategy paid off. Could we be repeating history?

I agree totally but there are some here that actually believe you have this invincible super army and that playing brinksmanship politics is a survivable option .Now back to the topic , barbee raised a good question regarding ATF and motor oil , since both products are primarily additives and in most cases now synthetic I guess the cost of production of those components are driving their price and the reduction of use of real motor oil is probably killing the "economy of scale "

propane in Missouri last year was like $4.50 gal. all kind of B S excuses. lucky I hear with wood. gas stove uses VERY little! diesel actually went down again today $2.99...... gas was $ 2.11 at that spot here in the sticks, can be found little over $2.oo in springfield.

Yes but not the way you think , Reagan actually killed the whole commodities market bankrupting the average North American Farmer in the process and of course creating the Corporate Farm culture we have today , the biggest drain on the Russian economy was actually 10 years of unwinable war in Afghanistan , so yes history is repeating itself , your economy tanked , the banks got bailed out , congress just enabled another dump of corporate debt and repealed the act that was supposed to keep the banks in check and prevent another dump and collapse -read the riders to the budget that just passed before you reply Lead .

It is a who can blow up the planet the most times contest. Like one is not enough.

Lots of factors here, The ruble is falling for a reason. In a buyers market, An oil driven economy always suffers. Russia is still no bigger than Texas when it comes to the size of an economy. 17% Interest is a good Indicator of the so-called health of Russia. Putin's spending on his military is like my stupid sister spending all her money at the casino, instead of feeding her kids. In 1948 thru 1960 Russia and China were buddies. Then all of a sudden a large chunk of the Russian military was on the chinese border, and vice versa. They have never liked each other, and these Marriages never last.
It is true that our country isn't being run very well right now. And I'm not for bailing out any Banks, and most of the smaller banks in the U.S. weren't either. I worked with them, and the majority view was if you are failing, then you should die off, and the strong banks will pick up the assets and keep moving forward. But the guy in charge wants only a few large banks to control all the money. that way he can control us better. That is why the five largest Banks got almost all the money. Corruption to the Nth degree!

It is true that the Saudi's can pump oil at $10.00 a barrel, but their annual budget is spending money with oil being in the range of 70-80 a barrel. With oil at 58 bucks a barrel, it is Sort of like living on unemployement after being laid off, as cash flow is now negative. Russia is seeing the same results. Now, the Europeans are happy, as the Blackmail has receded.

oil, we control the oil. lol what you are seeing is check, checkmate is in the future.
Russia. China and whomever. lmao U.S. wins all day every day.
I don't need to rattle a sabre because the smart money is on the U.S. just ask Europe.

No. There's no one intelligent in charge to pull that off, again.

Everybody that works in the oil Industry knows diesel is cheaper to make than Gasoline.
The price spread today is a deliberate result of the Gov't playing politics with pricing. If Diesel sold based on what it cost to make, it would be 1,25 per gallon, and gas would still be 3.50 a gallon. The Gov't is intentionally rolling the fuel price to the trucking industry, hence to consumer prices for good rendered. Obama thinks he can hide the true cost to you, and you won't see it that way. All one has to do is look at diesel prices in Europe. That price is more in line with what it costs to refine. Not to mention 70% of all cars drive on diesel there. Diesel is markedly less per gallon there than Gasoline.

I still say, with technology being what it is and what it has the potential to be, I'm all for nuclear.
Having said that, I hope to god there is a way I can buy a "Mr. Fusion" so I run my A Bodies!

I, personaaly AM NOT a dem or rep!!! when you mentioned the NEW budget just passed ( what a joke), the d em, were bitching cause the other side slid stuff by them. !!! LOL
WHY is it NOT their job to read, or have someone read, the bill BEFORE they vote on it. Forrest Gump would have made a better representative of the people 1000 times over than these ignorant, crooked b-------! just my opinion .....LOL

WHY is it NOT their job to read, or have someone read, the bill BEFORE they vote on it.

They know what's in it. Precisely why I said I pay little or no attention to what I see and hear in the media. Obama has a low approval rating. Congress has an even lower approval; rating. American mainstream media has the lowest approval rating of them all. By my standards. It's just easier and leads to a more serene(not complacent) life to let the government do what they're going to do and go on about my business. I don't think it's healthy do go through life with an overinflated assessment of my own abilities in thinking I can do a better job of running a country than they can. Especially when I only get a partial rendition of the truth from the media.

The main reason gas prices ( crude oil prices) are low is that the Saudi 's are worried about their wacky neighbor working on nuclear weapons and are getting the price of oil low so that they can't afford to keep working on it.

That is certainly part of it , the whole Shia vs Sunni thing and the proxy wars around it , someone is buying the ISIS oil that is being sold through Turkey as well and you can bet they aren't paying retail for it .

I agree , the tech has been there for decades , heck they were showing self parking cars and highway linking cars that synced up to the lead vehicle and drove themselves in a convoy back in the early seventies ,we are just seeing these systems in the marketplace now . Copyright and trademark that name [ even tho you took it from a video game eh ] it could be worth a fortune in the future .

I'll throw this out. The Saudi's need money like they need sand. This oil manipulation is joint between the US and Arabia created to force Russia the hell out of Crimea by collapsing their economy. As good as any theory's out there.
