Has anyone used Gearvendors over/underdrive units?

If so which application do you/have you used?

Myself I'll be getting a 727 unit,this one I think.

3D0731 Dodge TF 727 3-Speed Automatic Replaces 8" tail housing. 60's and 70's gas cars and trucks

Hers some publicity stuff.

Im finding the appeal of a 6 speed auto very attractive. The price isnt terrible, about $2500 for a bolt on tailshaft. There is extra stuff you need to do of course.Shorten the driveshaft,an electronic package that sounds usefull...not sure if that is included as part of the upgrade.

And an interesting mopar muscle read on the GV unit.

The increased mileage AND performance are making this package really attractive. If you really think about it,you can get the same performance with less motor by using the GV unit.Or MORE performance by using a killer motor with it.Im thinkin a 408 would be a lot of fun with a 6 speed and 4:10 gears. After all, final drive ratio works out to 3:20 even with 4:10 gears!

I run one on my Dodge Cummins W250 5sp and love it. 4.10 gears, big tires and great MPG to boot. Kinda like having your cake and eating it too.

I am inistalling this unit after very soon. Everyone that has one gives it great reviews. For the price and ease of install it seems like a no brainer. Cant wait to have low gears with low RPMS.

I have one and love it. Easy install except for considerable tunnel modification. Haven't we dicussed this before? When are you going to do it?

I have no intention of converting to manual any time soon.
I’m staying with a voodoo science slush box.
But one with overdrive would be nice.

I checked out your link.I think the driveshaf angle/u joint thing could be dealt with fairly easy.Shim the diff.Cutting a foot out of the driveshaft seems like saving some parasitic loss.

As for the GV being cantilevered out past the crossmember....well he doesnt say why he doesnt like it.No expanation, just personal taste I guess.

As far as I understand it,the tunnel doesnt need a lot of massaging.Chuckbizkits, please enlighten me.What did you install the GV in?What tranny, car, motor? My combo will be 1970 Dart,360,727,8 3/4.

And I'll be doing this within a few years anyway. Not right away.Gotta get the car done first. And we will likely be moving within a year,so theres getting the house finished.Motors going in this winter as will the 727.Manual steering and disc brakes as well,so a lot on my plate.

Probably has something to do with being “a lever”.
The unit hangs out there past the transmission support.
Right?
Weight and torque.
But that's just my guess.
And a problem for the mechanical engineers to haggle over.
Hey, I work with one. I think I’ll show him a picture and see what the thinks.

Yes, I am going to instal the GV in a couple of months. If you have any pix of your GV and Air Ride front end I would love to see them.
