Geared DA sanders

Is there any merit in getting a geared DA sander over one that is not? Harbor freight has a Baxter geared da that looks nice, and I found the same one on Ebay for half the price. I'm no pro, but a dude that does a car every so often in his garage for a hobby.

I would need to see the model but geared head sanders are usually called "mud hogs" for heavy material removal and coarse paper. Regular DA"s are for medium sanding and Brands like Hutchins with a tight pattern are for fine/finish sanding.

Ok, thanks. That's not what I would want then. I'll look for a low CFM, DA sander then. DeWalt has a pretty decent looking one for about 80.00 I might go with
