Gearing and shifting 4 speed at the track

My suggestion is....... try and have a clear picture of what you’re trying to accomplish....... and use the appropriate parts to achieve that goal.

It’s easier to decide what choices to make when the target is well defined.

I want to run my quickest 1/4 mile possible while still being able to drive the car reasonably well on the street (aka no 5.13 or 4.56 gears etc).

“As quick as possible” isn’t a target.

Put in as much gear as you think you can tolerate on the street...... and it’ll run what it runs.

Either post 29, or gear it for the HP you have, and the MPH you will generate. It's a simple math calculation. You either gear for what you can live with, or gear for MPH and RPM. The math was settled on this long before I was born.

What axle do you have? If it is 8 3/4, set up two hogs heads and swap when needed.
