If you have a GE dishwasher, please take notice of this. General Electric has recalled several models of their dishwashers due to faulty heating elements. The life you save could be your own. The heating element can power up even if the dishwasher is not running. and melt the plastic components of the dishwasher (including the tub) thus becoming a fire hazard.
