Did my tail stripe last weekend, wife and I did the vinyl top weekend before. Hopefully glass goes in this week while short block's assembled .... pushin' for end of Sept but still have alot to do. Needs : front bumper brackets, hood release mechanism (release and cable, not latch itself) driveshaft for 340/727/741 pig. PM me if you can help.

Looks great, nice work. Are you going to take it to the Mopar show at Garlits in November?

how'd you do that rear end stripe? was looking to do that soon. looks very good

Yeah, I'm shooting for Garlits show, but it's just me doing the work when I can so it may be tight .... hopefully things go smooth .... just need to stay out of the boat (fishing) and stay in the garage !

Stripe's pretty easy - I did it by myself without assistance, first time I've applied one or even seen one applied. Follow instructions, use plenty of solution, the "squeegee" provided works well, but wrap a piece of cloth around it to help minimize any marring of the decal. Bubbles happen - don't get aggressive if you can't work them to the edge, better to prick with pin/exacto and work out with squeegee/fingers. Smaller (tiny) bubbles will evaporate within a week or so. Remember, I've done one - there are those here that have better advise and tips than I. Mopar Muscle has an article on line - bumblebee on a Charger, search their site. Now the vinyl top - that was another story !

Tell me all about the vinyl top. I need to redo the one on my 73, I just don't know if I should do it myself or take it some where.

Rebel, that is looking wonderful! I am going to be putting the vinyl top on my '71 this upcoming week. Thank God the roof is cherry. BTW: What do you use to seal the roof before applying the top?

GTX - roof was prepped as for paint, 2-part epoxy primer . Some will apply a top over primer since it's not permeable to moisture but others suggest paint, then top. I had some leftover single stage paint from a previous project and shot it here at the house. It had been on the roof a good 3 months before vinyl install (didn't want to waste any of the sublime under the vinyl).
360Scamp - All I had to go by was any instructions I could find on-line:
http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/howto/25738_horse_skinning/index.html and this over at Moparts: http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/misc/4.html

I've been in a financial pinch the last six months of this project and needed to save the 3-400 they get for installation for other parts I need. I had the top for some time, bought the adhesive and jumped in. I've never even seen one done - articles were my only reference. Not fun and if I had the extra cash, I would rather drop it off somewhere and pick it up completed. It came out great with one exception, and I'd have to point it out to you to spot it - long story. IF I ever do another one, I'll know. The top is all one piece, all the way around the back glass (as you already know), I came up too "tight" to lay down the piece that runs under the rear glass. Pretty sure it was due to something I did, there was no way I was going to have enough "slack" to lay it down. I had no choice but to cut it (I'm working by myself now, wife helped on the very top - then went shopping!) I made a cut dead center across this piece, finished the install, and made this "fix" which doesn't look bad at all. I read that many tops for other cars have this piece separate from the beginning and you make your own seams (Chevelles' Novas) This makes more sense to me, but what do I know.
