Anyone know a place that won't charge you an arm and leg for good sheet metal? Proper gauge thickness and not crappy china pot metal mix? Since all the body shops around here expect me to pay the price of a new car to fix two quarter panels. I figure I could drop a grand or two into a good welder and grab sheet metal. i'm currently looking at these guys http://restorationpartssource.com/ anyone have any experience with them? How's their service and parts quality? their prices seem sane 150-200 a panel as opposed to 300-600 from other places ive seen.

do yourself a favor and order your panels from AMD. This way you get the whole quarter (or patch) you need and it will be the correct thickness.

Layson's also sells them, but you can also order direct from AMD if I'm not mistaken

No but you can find it. AMD is Auto Metal Direct.

:( holy hell...... directly from AMD its nearly 500 bucks a panel..... for that kind of dirt I might as well just look for a parts car. At least I know specifically what brand is good....

WOW, it is amazing how much cheaper http://restorationpartssource.com/ is than http://www.autometaldirect.com/ on the same identical part sold under the AMD name.
Valance Panel $229.95 from AMD

Valance Panel $176.33 from RPS

Savings $53.62 on the same AMD part. I haven't compared shipping yet so that may change the savings.

You should definitely get a hold of Jeff @ 521 Restorations then. I've bought from him the last two years and am placing another order next week. I quote this through anybody I can find and he is always the best in pricing, and he's a Mopar guy if that means anything to you.

I will contact him should I ever get back to working on my car and need anything. As it stands right now I think I have everything I need on my parts cars.

All I can say is the parts fit my car like a glove

Geez.... if you guys really think the prices for AMD are worth it :( i guess i got no choice, this is really going to dig into the cookie jar for performance parts...

Ok, so i did a once over and seen what I needed for my car...... I don't need full quarter panels. I just need edge sheet metal.where the rocker meets the rear wheel well and lower extension are the only places that really need metal replaced...... it'd seem silly to pay 400 bucks for a whole quarter when i only need a 12x6" patch of non-complex bends... There's only 1-2 places i actually need an unique bend, the lip well.. prob would do well to get some cut off from a parts car. pretty suprised how solid it is, I think I can get away with doing a home job on this :D
