ok guys need ur help.
i put new plugs and a new roter butten in it today but it wont fire. im not even gettin anyfire from the coil.
what else could it be?
i wanna here this thing run!

Bad coil?
Ballast resistor?
Ignition switch?
Fusable link?
Trace the wires is where I would start. Are they butched up at all?
C

Run a wire from the posative batterie terminal to the coil...it will run....Given the coil is good. It will put you at ease to know the engine runs, then you can find the wireing problem.

My guess is it is a bad conestion. looks like it has been off the rd for a while. when was it driven last. did the owner say it was a runner???

hot wired the coil. still wont fire.
tryed to put a accel coil on it still wont fire.
hot wired the accel coil it still wont fire.

I'm assuming the motor is turning over, just no spark?

If its an electronic distributor the reluctor may be bad

If you have a meter or a test lamp check to see if you have voltage at both sides of your ballast resistor. If you do, then look to the coil

Is the plug wire from the coil to the distributor corroded or anything? That could prolly cause a problem.

Have you popped the cap off and checked the points? Are they full of rust? Clean but just need adjustment?

Beat me to it ramcharger.bet the block on the points crumbled and theyre not opening.

I had the same problem wit my swinger the other day. A friend of mine and I did the heads on it and we tried to fire it but no spark, found it its the ignition control module sitting on the drivers side fender. I just swapped mine with the 4 door to get the other rolling :p Sweet find and i hope this helps :)

nice find hope you get it running maybe upgrade the dist.get away from points had a prob with my 69 kinda like your problem

Nice car BTW. I always liked Chargers of any year. Oh yeah, change the oil and filter and drain the tank and fill with fresh fuel before you get it started.

318's are tough engines but 22 years of sitting is a long, long time. It just might be a blessing that it didn't fire yet.

is there gas coming out of the carb when you push the throtle. When you hot wire the coil, nothing else really matters ( eccept the dist and wires) But its the easiest way. I had a car that I thought had no spark once, but I just didn't prime the engine is all.

He has a points style ignition, and that means there's a lot more that matters. :)
