Got the K-Frame Blues

Was carefully trying to remove the spool mounts from the K-frame
to use it as a big block k-frame

something wasn't setting right after I got the driver's side mount off..

Hummm, let's set it onto the frame rails

YEP, dang thing is twisted, one corner is 1" away from the frame rail

then tested 2 other k-frames, (don't want to cut them up> small block/spool and a 340 k-frame ), they set flat, so, it's not the frame rails

So, the lesson today is check the fitment BEFORE modding the k-frame




Lucky, I have another slant k-frame , but, it's still in a parts car, with eng/trans

Of course, the extra k-frame i had..
Gave it away last year, to a member that needed it more than I did at the time.

So, if anyone needs a steering box mount or idler arm bracket,

At least its only a slant 6 frame, easy and cheap to find, I've got a spare if you need it. :burnout:

We started with a v-8 spool mount k frame >> bent> scrapped it

salvaged the mounts
Now am pulling a slant frame from a parts car

mod the slant frame to install the v-8 spool mounts
