I just took my 17 Year old Grandson from Canada (who I haven't seen in 2 years) for a 90 minute 4 speed driving lesson. 60 minutes on a paved back road with plenty of turns and small hills (great for learning downshifting and starting out from a stop on a hill). He did really well. The engine only got killed 4 or 5 times, and my car is probably not the easiest to learn on with its modified engine and stiff clutch. Then we went to lunch with him driving on city streets. Memorable day for both of us.

Teaching him to drive a clutch puts him ahead of 99% of the driving population.

Agreed here. Well done on teaching him a good life skill.

Wanna reduce your risk of losing a car to carjacking, drive a stick! LOL

Great looking car! He’s a lucky kid to have a grandpa like you.

That's pretty cool, Grandpa!

I also like that he is so good at it already, that he can do it with his eyes closed. ... just had to chuckle at the 1st pic.

I was hoping nobody would notice that. I must have caught him while blinking.
