Thanks! That reminds me, I gotta go grab one in the morning, my old ones trashed. BTW, how are we supposed to dispose of our used flags? I forgot and my ex-Marine father (God rest his soul) would kill me if I disrespected the flag.

Thank you Grant. I never served but my father did in WWII.

Never throw a flag away in the trash.
You may burn it in a dignified way.
Check with your local veterans organization. They will take them and
dispose of them properly.
I think the Boy Scouts may also.

They both have some sort of ceremony to dispose of them.

Thank you norshor. There's a VFW right up the street. As a Veterans son, I could go drink there but I just don't feel that I have the right. I do remember something about incinerating the flag but I want to do it right.

I was never in the service my family has always been very patriotic.
There have been quite a few member of my family that have been in one
branch of the service or the other.
Have a safe fourth.

Happy 4th Everyone! I like to treat this day like Memorial Day. Not only do I hold it in remembrance but also think about our current men and women in the military and pray for their quick (and hopefully victorious) return home soon.

On another note, I like to celebrate the holiday like any other red-blooded American ... with illegal fireworks. We have stocked up on some pretty wicked mortars (fresh from NV) and are looking forward to letting them rip!

Freedom is not free, it was payed for by the blood of our troops.
