Has anyone adapted LEDs for dash bulbs?

Im needing to work on my dash lights on the original 72 dash circuit board, Im in need of the bulb sockets, but was wondering has anyone put leds in their place. The originals being quite a bit dimmer than LEDs. If so where were they purchased.

The small led's can't be dimmed so if you put some in they are what they are.

It is true that many l.e.d.s cannot be dimmed. The ones that can do cost more. If you go to:

you should be able to find some that will work for you. There are different ones available to fit your car. I'd recommend trying to get some rated around 100 lumen or brighter.

Mine dim and were not actually advertized as such and they are from the place linked above.

One thing to keep in mind with them is that they will only work one way in the socket, so when installing and a few don't light turn those. (pos and neg really matter with LED's)

Nice write-up. We did leave those diffusers in our Roadrunner dash and it was too dim still until we took them out.

The bulb sockets are available at NAPA. Someone will post the part #'s or you can do a search in this forum.

Next time the cluster is out, I might remove the diffusers, but the LED's do a much better job than the originals IMO

Yeah don't buy the $1-2 cheapies from China on Ebay.
Go to www.SuperBrightLED.com yes, they're pricier but well worth it.
