I'm taking Red to the Arcada theater in St Charles Illinois to catch legendary guitarist George Lynch's "Final Ride" tour this Saturday. I found this video for the opening act. Female singer and guitarist and I guess her dad is the lead guitarist. Has anyone seen them?

Yep, I'm too old. 30 seconds of that gives me a headache. (and I didn't go far enough to hear anyone sing) I can imagine what that sounded like.

Yup the arcada is a nice place. Been there a few times. Saw Marshall Tucker the last time there, another time I was in here for Alan Parsons project, saw steely Dan tribute band (Deacon Blues was their name) and a couple of others.

Is that a Neon?

Saw Dokken twice in the 80's.

Big GL fan.

Did not even reach his potential IMO.

Never heard of um, but that gal looks and sounds like she'd chew your head off like a female prayin mantis.
She had a very natural powerful voice. She climbed up on the stacks guitar in hand and jumped off onto the stage. Never missed a note. She also came out as a guest for George Lynch and played rhythm guitar with his band. She was a great showman and very talented singer/musician. Her dad was an incredible lead guitarist.

Was?

Just past tense as the show was this past Saturday. He is still with us! They are in the band together. If anyone ever has the chance to see them close to home, they were a very pleasant surprise for an opening act. They had their own original music and also threw in a few tribute songs. They were good enough to do a very fair rendition of a song by Rush in honor of Rush's drummer Neil Peart's passing. It was a real crowd pleaser. The only bad part was this old fart driving home at 1:15 A.M. to make sure our little pointer Georgia and the big old girl Mugger were O.K. Freezing rain in Chicagoland driving. I rang the doorbell when we got home, and Mugger let out a couple of big hunting dog howls from inside the house so we knew she was fine. When I opened the door Georgia literally gave me a big hug. All was well!

I have no doubt she can play. I did listen to that much. lol

The sound quality is terrible from the cell phone, but George is still one of the best guitar players of all time even at 70. This was his last tour with his band but he is working on recording his last album with this band. Karrin and I were 12th row center. Her hand and cell phone can be seen in this video from the balcony video for about 3 seconds. LOL

"One of the best guitar players of all time" is certainly subjective. I guess it depends on the style you like.

Yes.

Even though GL was around at the same time as Van Halen and Stevie Ray, he was, for a time considered "the best guitarist in the world" by the musical literary publishers.

That's some pretty stiff competition to have garnered that type of respect.

"Best guitarist" lists are always controversial.

Here's a short list of who got left out of the Rolling Stone list cited above, that put GL at 47-

Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton, Michael Schenker, Alvin Lee, Warren Haynes, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Sonny Landreth, Robin Trower, Gary Moore, Rick Derringer, Steve Howe, Eric Johnson, John Fogerty, Joe Bonamassa, Steve Morse, Steve Lukather, Jorma Kaukonen, Guthrie Govan, Brian Setzer, Tommy Emmanuel, Lenny Breau, and Hank Marvin.

They also tend to put in people for their accomplishments rather than ability and technique.
I frequently see Pete Townsend and Jerry Garcia in "best guitarist" lists.
Neither was anywhere near as good as the list I posted of "left out", but they always seem to make it in.
