Hello all, I am currently doing a rotisserie resto on my 68 Valiant. It's almost ready for paint and I'm contemplating having the bottom done in quality bed liner spray. I am somewhat concerned about weight, To my knowledge you can adjust thickness of material as I am not wanting to add more than 50lbs additional pounds. Has anybody here done this or have knowledge of approximate material amount needed and or added lb's.
Thanks much for your valuable insight!

I had the entire bottom of a Ford unicab done as well as the interior floor while it was on a rotisserie. Weight wasn't a concern but that stuff is bullet proof.

Those bedliner sprays chip really easy the thinner they get. I had my S10 Linex'd the thinnest theyd spray it and while they honored their warranty very well and had great customer service, i don't recommend it unless you're going really thick. I ended up having them spray it at 1/4 inch thick and it never chipped again. At that point, I think you'd be better off with one of the dedicated undercoatings out there.

I had our 2010 Ram’s bed sprayed with Rhino lining right after buying it brand new. So far so good that i’m Thinking about taking the floors that I will be fabricating for my 47 project and having them sprayed on the underside before welding them in place.

Never do the words 'concourse restoration' and 'Linex' belong in the same paragraph, or same vehicle.

That said, you can probably save some weight on omitting seam sealer and carpet sound deadening.

Thank you! I just learned that spraying a standard bed will add a minimum of 40 lbs, I would estimate the bottom of my car to be approximately equal to two beds thus adding at least 80lbs. Has anyone tried body shutz undercoating. I believe it has a flatter more consistent texture than most other under coatings.

There are 2 part epoxy type bedliner kits that come with a shutz gun. Not cheap, but quite effective and way cheaper than paying to have it done.

I have done this, and it can be color matched to your body color also. Did it on a 70 challenger and it turned out awsome. It doesn't really add any significant weight either, all the materials together in there packages didn't weigh maybe 10 lbs.

I did the trunk of my Dart with Raptor spray in liner. The material might have weighed about 5lbs, not enough to care about. The sound deadening properties should make up for the weight.

TCP Global sells a nice undercoat gun at Amazon for around $30 shipped, shot the inside of my Willys with it and POR 15 water-based bedliner.
It looked great when fresh shot, but you cannot clean it, the floor always looks dirty.

I had the floor sanded with 400 grit and prepped for paint, but the wife said, the first time the grand-kids scratch the floor of the jeep I would freak out.

So true so I sanded it with rougher grit and shot the bedliner, I hate it.

Like I said more work for something that looks like crap after a few weeks.

I got my raptor kit off ebay and it comes with the gun. It lays down nice and I got the perfect texture I was looking for.

Lizard Skin works well too. I helped a friend restore a 67 Mustang, and we used it on that car. Sprays nice, covers well, and washes up with water. Google it.

I have sprayed a couple of my dads cars & mine with the bed liner that you get at NAPA. I have also brushed it on the interior floor.

Every time I see undercoating or stuff like this on a "restored" car, I wonder "what are they trying to hide". Makes me lose interest real fast.
