I've looked pretty hard at doing it on my '64 but am concerned about two aspects. 1. I don't want to section or toss the rear seat and 2. I'm a little concerned about adverse effects on handling with the springs relocated as the current plan is to have reasonably fat tires on all four and have it be able to corner. Only reason I could think to do it is for looks as there are some really impressive 60' times out there from skinny tire cars running cal-tracs.

if you go to www.moparmax.com

they have a few articles about building an early dart altered whellbase car with mini tubs. Not exactly a barracuda , but the next closest thing. I remember reading the article about the mini tubing of the car with many detailed pictures and helpful hints.

yes i agree! i am makn this a drag car without choppin it up! i want to go with a ten inch rim(which with the bulge of the e/t slick is 12") and it is around 12" from frame to wheelwell.and yes for looks! I like the rear low look! the seats need reapolstered anyway i was just going to leave it out and building lid that lifts up to store stuff but make look like the rear seat is down! deal with seat later when i have more money! i dont think moving the springs are going to mess with handling(especially with firmer springs) and not so much deep dish on rim! with the sheilds and glued on carpet it should be easy to make look RIGHT! My concern is where to cut! only if u own one would you understand what i mean. it gets a little goofy back thaer where the rear window comes down!

I mini tubbed my 64 valiant. I modified the rear seat so that you couldn't even tell I did it from the inside. I really need to get back to work on it. I really haven't done anything with it really in at least 6 months or so. I'm building an 86 446/518 (2-wire) Ramcharger 2wd 1/2 ton that I turned into a 2wd 1 ton, to be able to haul the car around with and haul my family. My three girls, and my wife and I.

Very nicely done moparlee, sweet car. I don't see where the barracuda would be able to hide anything. I am going for handling over rear bite because my car will be driven every weekend 100mi or more but I do love the look of those big meats! I had 11" tires on the car when I got it so that will have to do for me. Good luck, I don't think it will hurt the handling of your car with the stiffer springs.
