Hi guys, just bought a new headlight switch and noticed it comes with a tab on the rear of it. I'm not sure what this is for as my old switch doesn't have it.
Could it be an added ground?

Some later models needed a ground on that switch so all aftermarket switches have it. A "one size fits all" replacement. To add a ground wire there in any application can be beneficial.
Yep, being it's part of the entire metal surround it could only be a ground.
I agree that it wouldn't be a bad idea to use it as such, but you don't have to for it to work.
