do i need to spend the extra $$$$ eddy headed 418 11.75 compression, heads freshly milled, block freshly decked, .39 gasket, gasket part#is i think 1008. bolts or studs?????????

Go Studs (I have them on my 340 ARP only) they are able to hold the head down better than a bolt. Think acorn lug nut vs. open ended one, which can hold on better.

For iron no, for those aluminum ones good idea. Blown head gaskets are no fun...the white cloud of smoke thou is pretty cool seeing, lol...however if your head clearance is tight:sign10:

I would use bolts. If you had the block torque plate honed and you go to studs, you might as well have it re-honed.
