I've got my dash all apart and have serviced my heater box. Should the control cables be lubed in their sheaths? I have speedo cable lube but wasn't sure if they should be lubed at all or just left alone.
When I pulled mine apart I didn't notice any lube. I don't think it's necessary since it doesn't spin thousands of times at high speed like the speedo cable. However, I don't think a bit of graphite powder (speedo lube) will hurt. Just my opinion.
Yeah, That's kind of what I was thinking. They slide OK. There is certainly some friction and you fell slight effort to slide the controls with it removed but it's not like they're hanging up or dragging hard. Just wanted another opinion.
I would lightly lube the cables; it makes for easer movement of heater controls. Whenever I disassemble something on the Dart it gets cleaned, painted, lubed, and reinstalled.
If it's not moving smooth check to make sure the cable isn't kinked or bent, if it is it'll cause a bit or resistance. It shouldn't affect its function either way though.
