How do you replace (are there replacements made) or repair the pins that hold the cables on the dash heater control?

There was a guy who made some out of AL or steel.

If I had one or the dimensions I could have some designed and printed in about 30 minutes in plastic for test fitting. I could have them printed in Aluminum (AL), $5.00 each plus shipping or $15.00 (US) for 2, shipped.

The AL part would wear faster than the steel it separates BUT I suspect it will last several decades the way our cars are used.

Let me know if anyone wants to loan up a plastic part (even if it is broken) or perhaps a heater control assy. that I can disassemble and do some testing on.

It was about 35 years ago, but yes they were the same.

I’m currently on the same boat. Was installing new dash vents and accidentally broke a pin.

The slider that’s made out of plastic is also brittle.

I can try to pull my assembly out and get you some dimensions.

Just saw your offer (I'm a year late in responding!) I was able to get the dimensions and made replacement pins, I also have acquired several heater controls 67, 68-71 A body and 68-72,3or4? Truck of all things. I have a design for the sliders but I might modify the OEMs design to prevent the little spring tabs from breaking off, basically make it more robust. Another member is going to test my current design for me in real world conditions.

I make the repair parts as well.

I make 67 style pins (aluminum)
68 up pins (aluminum)
And 68 up sliders (Nylon 12) my sliders are designed with reinforcement where they break.
