Heater core delete??

Just noticed my heater is dripping slightly on floor mat today. Now my question. Can I by- pass the heater core by connecting the 2 hoses together at the firewall in engine compartment? This would only be for a while until I can get the core repaired or replaced. Maybe permanent since it is never driven in cold weather. Would this cause any over heating issues by eliminating the heater totally?? This is on a 66 Dodge dart 273 engine.

Opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No problem just disconnect the hoses from core and use a connecter to hook them together. Good to go until you need a heater.

Thanks for correcting me on my posting skills and answering my question.

You can even loop it right at the water pump if you don't want all those hoses laying in the engine compartment.
