We had to replace a bad lifter so after doing that and noticing that one cam lobe was worn we decided to just put it back together with the new lifter and rebuild it in the summer when will was out of school. I came up with the brilliant idea of adding STP to help it last a longer and that was the big mistake. We started it and within 5 min. my oil filter imploded and shot all of the filter element into the engine blocking all of the oil holes and journals. So it was a full on rebuild, pulled motor out did the rebuild put it back in and the crank was frozen.
pulled the motor out again and realized we had one piston and backwards much cause the rods to bind up with each other. Fix that reassembled put it back in and it was running really shady so we thought the cam was in the wrong place because we put in a racing cam.
But it turned out it was just to spark plug wires were switched and somehow but in the initial startup we had a backfire that exploded one of the mufflers it's up and running now but it was quite the journey as you can see by the photos.
The moral of the story don't use STP additive ever.
