Just bought my first Mopar yesterday. Had been wanting a Valiant/Dart ever since watching "The Duel" years ago when I was young. First non Honda/Acura car I've ever owned. Picked it up for 1200.00, the wife still thinks I'm nuts but I couldn't be happier.

Had lurked this site and the slant six website for quite a while trying to research the car before I purchased it. It's a 1970 Dodge Dart Custom, 225 slant six 3 speed column shift. Haven't the faintest idea how to identify the trans, maybe someone could shed some light on that? Just cleaned it up a small bit today and repaired damaged dash wiring. The previous owner put an aftermarket headunit in the factory location :banghead: so at the moment I'm gonna have to just live with it. Runs great, idles well, the only safety issue is a very stiff brake pedal. Going to start with a new master and then work my way back throughout all the brake components and make sure its safe before I drive much or consider any other upgrades. It was pretty filthy inside, and the headliner is thrashed so I tore it out. And the tires are missmatched and full of seperation/cupping and wear. But all in all I thought I did alright. These are after the first cleaning.

Welcome to the site from another 70 Dart Custom owner, except mines a 2 door.

The Woodgrain dash parts are hard to find, and you have the deluxe steering wheel. Your door panels are also one year, one model, so be nice on them. What shape are your head rests? They're also very hard to find uncracked, especially in green.

Yeah that would be great lol. The b18a1 in the 89-91 Integra LS' is a stout little motor. They're also very plentiful and simple to work on. Had plenty of 'em in my short time on earth.

The previous owner cut the poor panels to hell to put aftermarket speakers in the doors (Also cut the factory door skin up under the panels to do so). But I believe I can find a way to repair them, used to work for an upholsterer and window tint specialist as an apprentice. The headrests are there but extremely dry and cracking, alas I do believe much of the interior will need fabric replacement. I'm still up in arms as to what I should do about the dash, I'm no purist but I do believe in the old 'If it ain't broke' saying.

Unless he means that its a 3 on the tree... hard to translate

N P R D 2 1 on my column lol, sorry I am still trying to figure out all the lingo that comes along with owning an american car that also is nearly twice my age. And this is my first automatic vehicle, definitely an adjustment. My knee's are bored if not helping steer from time to time.

Very true. 234,4xxmi. I want to swap in a b18c or c1 though

I used to own a 94 dc4 with a B18b1. It was a fun car to have. Sold it at almost 200k miles and still ran strong. Check out www.team-integra.net, that site was very helpful. I wanted to swap in a b18c5 or K20 but never got around to that. My 73 Duster is my first Mopar and so far its been a learning experience.
 
One of the items on my bucket list (from long before that term was coined) is to turn left in Albuquerque!

Mopars are a blast! This Acura is my first 4cylinder build in general. Im on G2IC.com a lot.
