470RB
Weiand tunnel ram w/750 Mighty Demons
Trickflow 240 heads
10.5 compression w/Icon forged flat tops
4000 stall converter
4.11 gears w/28 tall tires
Going into a '74 Duster that is much lighter than stock (have not weighed it yet, guessing 2900-3000lbs wet)

Mechanical roller only please!

Note: Manual brakes, don't care about vacuum or idle quality. MAX street effort do not care about bottom end because of the loose converter/low gearing.
 
A wider lsa because of the high stall is my 2c. I THINK You need more than 260@050 @ 106 if rpm peak should go wery much past 6000?

Does the bottomend handle 7000rpm?
 
I don't think so. I mean I get we are talking a stroker but 30cubic inch isn't imo going to eat up the duration that much. I have [email protected] and while it peaks at 5700 it is not falling off much after 6000. I think the added duration will counteract if not exceed the difference in LSA. His converter is a 4000k stall and I'd be hard pressed to believe that cam in the 470 won't make peak torque at least at 3500 which would be appropriate for that converter.

Now Norway-dart, I am a HUGE fan of using wider LSA's on street cars. However he used the phrasing "max effort" so I went with a smaller LSA and also added some duration to the cam choice due to that as well as the stroker combo with extra cubic inch.
 
I think you are much more skilled than me regarding this...Just thinking...may it be a little boring engine on the street if you know what i mean...short but powerful powerband... it would KICK HARD when stomped for show, but im worried it would run out of steam too fast....much more fun when you have some rpms to act on... on the other hand: nothing as cool as a car that burn rubber the second you hit the pedal! Thats saturday night spesial
 
This is precicely one of the reason I like the wider LSA for a street driven car. It give you that wide broad power curve. However you are often, if not always leaving some power on the table.
 
I think mopar-man must chime in and tell us all a little more what kind of engine behavior he wants! How does he want to use the power?
Im just about to install a hughes 237/242 108lsa in my 360. According to pipemax it will peak at ~5600, making it hard to get my 400hp goal.

Camshaft is not easy...aint no one size fits all...

Yes it does. Forged crank, H-beam rods w/ARP 2000 bolts, balanced of course.

Okay, this is no racecar because I hate roll cages on the street. It has reclining seats and a fold down rear seat and a big sound system. BUT also want a nasty drivetrain for burnouts and 7000rpm blasts. My last 440 had a 270 @ .050 .620 lift solid tappet cam and was loads of fun but the 13:1 compression got expensive because of race gas. No E-85 around here!
 
Okay fine. Here, 451 stroker, our ported Edelbrock RPM heads, single Dominator on Indy single plane, 91 octane.........

503 lb-ft @ 3,500 rpm
535 lb-ft @ 4,000 rpm
604 lb-ft @ 6,100 rpm
787 horsepower @ 7,100 rpm

276/280 @ .050" .816"/.816" 110 LSA 108 ICL

Yes, I drove it on the street.
 
Different Intake volume/diameter and length may screw up every cams optimal powerband:eek:

My tip would be like this..
You need to decide where you want max power, pick the camshaft that get you there, and then send the heads and intake to be ported/epoxied for that camshaft.
 
Buckle up for a nice street engine..sb though. Bullet mech roller camshaft i think.

That's the problem with driving in town... he can't keep his foot on the gas for more than a couple of seconds! Notice on every 1-2 shift the back end gets loose, too :)
