Kickdown adjustment effects the line pressure. It will not make a transmission engage gears in neutral or park. It is straight up a malfunction of the direct clutch, period. If the fluid looks good and doesn't smell burnt, it is a parts malfunction in the direct pack. If the fluid IS burnt, then the direct clutches are fried/welded together. My guess is the bellville spring and snap ring is the culprit.

Hey everyone. Transmission is out. Took a couple days away from it. Today I pulled the torque converter out and the pump is pretty rusty on its face. Maybe I should start a new thread on it but thought of this one first.

I’ve seen driving in neutral when the spring in the rear of the direct clutch pack over centered itself. Kim

just wanted to finish up the thread and say everything was put back together and driving may 12. Had to have a brain tumor removed so I’ll be down for a bit. What’s left: got to redo the fuel system and refurbish the steering coupler and I should have a decent ride. Thanks
