Background
Dart 1972
340 standard electronic ign orange box ignition
Single ballistic resistor
Accel coil

In garage now help is greatly app

Saying "Accel coil" is like saying "General Motors"

What is the part no. for the coil? What does Accel say you need for a ballast?

Have you measured running battery voltage? You still run the factory ammeter? Is it centered?

Accel 8140

Ballast is good around 1 ohms
Coil is good almost zero ohms from + -
And from - to he coil where it plugs is 10k ohms

No running circuit test

It appears that the Accel website is incredibly uninformative for a company that is supposed to "does ignition." From what I can gather, the factory ballast should be fine.

You are NOT?? leaving the key on with engine off, right?

Any chance the coil is defective?

This is what happens when you post from a phone. Nobody knows WITF you are talking about

Yea I understand was spire of moment and been 2 years since we have messed with ignition stuff and coil was just heating up, and we over thought a lot of stuff , I think we just had bad connection and the plug wires on cap were in correct order but started on the wrong plug! Fml oh well now it's a roaring
