HELP! Paint Code PP1 (1967)

Hi guys.

I'm doing a ground up resto of an early production (Sep '66) '67 Dart GT

Paint code is PP1

(Sorry for the picture quality, but you can see this is a moderately dark red, no orange tint at all)


My Chrysler hertiage certificate calls this "bright red"

On the PPG website, they show three different PPG codes for PP1, all overlapping in years, so it appears that the same paint code was used for different paint colors in the same year.

PPG 71433 was referred to as "Bright Red", so we ordered it. It really is a 'bright red" (like Porsche Guards Red with lots of orange in it)... beautiful color, but not close to what was on the car. (Edit... this car has been in my family since new, we know the darker red is the original color)

PPG 71483 just shows as "Red" but also matches to PP1 '66-68

and finally PPG 71203 (PP1 '61-66) shows as "Majestic Red"

I know the color of my Dart was extremely common... but which paint code is it???

my 68 cuda used the 71483. it was still a hair brighter than original. remember that the original toners are gone and they have to come as close as they can with todays paints.

You have probably seen this already, but at the end of this link there is a 1967 Plymouth paint chart. I assume Plymouth and Dodge paint codes were the same in 1967??
