Help reusing valves.

I do trust my machine shop, but it would be nice to know how to tell the difference between a good reusable valve and one thats shot. I havent cleaned any yet but some look quite pitted on the part of the stem in the exhaust port, this motor sat alot. Can that just be polished off? Whats to much pitting?

If the valve is truly pitted, it's not worth your time. Dropping a valve head costs a lot more than a set of valves.

Heads can cost $ to do right. You might not see it but you sure can feel it
