Don't know what happened to the lengths I had for early A battery cable lengths. If someone has a V8 a body and can get me lengths, I'd really appreciate it.

Best to use a string or wire and mirror the routing.

Stock cable from battery post center to center of starter ring terminal

Starter to starter relay wire. It is usually captured/wrapped back on the main cable for a short distance.
Total length measurement
Length from starter ring center to break out point from wrap.

Battery to Starter relay, same as the starter to relay approach if it is wrapped
Total length measurement
Length from battery post center to break out point from wrap.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the header crew Can be measured on a non header car

Another set for going back to the firewall from starter post center, up and across to fenderwell (go below mastercylinder), forward to battery post center.

Same deal for the other two wires with break outs from the main cable. They both will run along with the main cable the majority of the distance.

Thanks

If you need measurements fir a 65 Dart, i bought an exact reproduction from M & H. The used the exact blueprints for length, color of and gauge if the wires wires

I could use the lengths if it's a V8 cable. Appreciate the help with whatever you can provide!

OK here you go for the positive cable for a 65 A Body. The heavy black wire - (A1 per the wiring diagram) to the terminal at the starter is 35.5 inches(. The 2nd wire (black A1B)) from the battery terminal to the starter relay is 48.5 inches. The final wire (brown A5) from the starter solenoid to the the starter relay is 70 inches. All measurements taken from the center to center of each terminal. Hope this helps!

Thanks...

Do you happen to have the break out distance on the brown wire where it runs back along the main cable then branches to the starter relay? From looking at the pic below, how far it double backs, it may be about 33-34" to the breakout point
Please excuse the barely kindergarten capable MSpaint attempt. :)

I measured 44 inches from the eyelet where it mounts to the starter relay to the cylindrical black knob, or whatever it’s called. That includes where the wire curves back

I read that, you measured the other side of it, from the relay... Initially thought how can it be longer than the main cable. Then the synapses started firing. LOL

From the starter lug to the black knob (wire inside the covering) should be about 25" where the wire exits.

Thanks for the help.

Just so my visual is correct, there is only about 10" of main cable from battery post to that knob.

I put the cable away but that sounds about right, maybe a bit more. I’ll go downstairs after dinner and confirm the distance from the terminal to the knob. This is one of several I took for Ulf
