help with fuel guage needle

Hey guys, I need some help. I finally got tired of my speedo needle sticking so I tore the cluster out of my '74 Swinger. While cleaning the face of the fuel guage the needle popped off. Anyone know how this thing goes back on? Thanks
 
I'm not sure you can put it back on without removing the screen. Yeah it came out that way but gosh is it tender to handle. Anyway... I guess you can see it is pretty much a oval ring like a chain link with 2 V shaped limbs that go in it so it is suspended between the 2. Good luck with it.
 
so that ring has to go around two pieces. I can see one and get it hooked on there but I knew there had to be more to it. Thanks, I'll see what I can do.
