Help With Rear End Gear Pattern Check

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for opinions on my new 2.76 gear pattern check.

Here are some pictures.

What do you guys think?

Is the pattern okay on the convex and concave sides?

I'd get some gear marking compound so you can see the pattern clearly.

I agree with Gmachinedartgt. You really need some white or yellow gear marking compound to get a clear read on the pattern. This is critical. You want the pattern somewhat centered left to right but slightly toward the outside. If the gears are used check the coast side only. For new gears concentrate on the drive side. I rebuilt my rear and completed literally about 100 pattern checks until I was satisfied! What procedure are you using to get a pattern check?
