I decided that while I was getting my head redone on my 75 slant 6 I would go with new timing set or at least check mine. Here is my question...should the crank have a bolt to hold the damper on? Or ...I am sure my puller will pull it off but is it pressed on?

Craploads of them don't have the big bolt in the center.

No. Many of them don't have bolts in the center crank hole.

be careful tryin to pull it unless ya got the correct puller????

Don't pull it using the outer ring, but the bolt holes closer to the center.
It also helps sometimes to put somthing over the big bolt hole in the middle, since a puller can damage the threads or go down the threaded hole and bind up.

Ok....got it off. I found that the crank bolt off of an old 360 fit. So I hope I can press it back on with that. Thanks guys. I never really worked on a slant. It is a little different. Timing chain is really stretched. Glad I did it.

i dont remember which one is longer, the BB or SB bolt, but the slant bolt is actually longer than the shorter one and shorter than the longest one lol...

I recall reading that the slant and BB use the same crank bolt, including the 426 Hemi. The later washes a little luster on our slant engines.
