Not in an A-body, but, big block nonetheless. This is out of a 426 Hemi. Google is not my friend on this one. It had hydraulic lifters on it. I'm not so sure it's actually a hydraulic cam. Anyone recognize grind numbers? Any help appreciated. Thanks, all!!!

Comp cams: XE Hyd lobes
288/290- advertised
244/246- @.050
.335/.344- lobe lift
112 lsa

The number at the bottom is the serial number, and the -08 at the end is the year it was ground.

I think you will find the -08 is the LSA, 108. The #12 means the exh lobe has 12* more duration. The serial #M.... would tell them the date the cam was ground because comp keeps those records.

Nope.

I’ve been a Comp WD for 25 years……and know how to read the info on their cams.

If in doubt call Comp and they’ll confirm what I said is correct.

As seen below, the format is……
The two 4(or 5) digit numbers with the slash between them are the lobe numbers, the letter(s) after that designate the type of lifter, the number after that is the lobe separation.
There wasn’t always a number after the serial number, but after they got to ZXXXX, they added it to denote the year it was made.

In this example, the grind number is:
6194/6235 s 106.
Solid lifter cam, 106lsa.
Serial number clearly shown on the box c4381-13.
Also clearly shown is the date of manufacture 8/13/13.

The grind number for the OP’s cam is:
5418/5448 H 12…..which translates to:
244/246 H 112

I looked up the lobe specs……..I wasn’t guessing.

Also, at some point since the merger with Edelbrock…..the format for the serial numbers has changed.
The new format is a letter followed by an 8 digit number.
