Ba ha ha ha, Love thye pictures Wag's! Great mornin laff. Grins so big, they pop off the screen.

8BBL, I was thinking that.......didn't wanna go there so fast. The cam gets kind of big for the lil'engine.

Headers would really help this engine too. Unfortunately, to get a decent set for this body style you'll spend well over $800 by the time you get them in there & then you still need to figure out an exhaust system.

"also looking into disc break kits, headers, mufflers, wheels, suspension"

this is a great place to start, making the car stop and handle better first is the smartest thing you can do, and it is WAY more important than making it go faster, that you can do next, the HUGHES kit you listed is for a 360 not a 273, I would keep the 273 for now while you do the rest of the car, brakes, suspension, up grade the rear from your stock 7 1/4" to an 8 1/4" or 8 3/4" and while you are doing that you could look for a good 360 block to build, (a later roller cam block would be good) here are some brake and suspension links

Finally, the voice of reason has stepped in. Thanks caferacer!!! You can throw as big and bad a motor as you want in that car, but until you upgrade the rearend, trans, exhaust, and most importantly, brakes, you're just blowing smoke. For the 360 crate motor...what exhaust man's or headers are you going to put in those cozy little confines, and get around the steering shaft?? $1200.00 Dougs underchassis?? How about fenderwell?? Kinda takes the streetability out of it. Spitfire?? The man needs a plan, and going through all of cafe's list will be a good way to start, worry about the motor later, or look for a deal along the way. You need to start looking for the harder to find parts, like an 8 3/4 rear with a decent gear, and some disc brakes. Welcome to the Early A ranks, it's a great place to be!!! Geof

hey guys alls good with engine suggestions but what about that 7 1/4 rear end....i owened my local junk yard back in1964 with a 273 2brl 3 speed anything over 1200 rpm ...dunp the clutch and dump the rear end
