Hi from the UK

-
think i saw the gold fast back (dart ) it carislie pa 2 years ago (i think)
the cuda ... is cool its looks like a 73 dart swinger dash
funny the little changes they do
the extra lights on back look add on
Yeah the previous owner put them on, shame because it will have messed up the panel and it is otherwise in godd condition, so at some point I'll have to find a replacement. Valiant dash because they had those in the parts bin and an Aussie rhd steering box for the same reason, the firewall is actually a factory pressing specifically for RHD which again I guess came from stock for other rhd A bodies.

It looks like a CM grille on that Charger?Or maybe the CL Charger had that honeycomb style grille, which the CM then got. Getting harder to remember all that stuff!
It was a 76 car so a CL which I think they carried through to the CM, I loved that car and so did my wife and so did my dog, he used to sit up front, lean left, lean right, back fro braking and forward for accelerating!

Haha that’s fantastic mate! My grandfather had a VK Charger, same colour, factory 265 Hemi with a four speed. I loved that car as a kid.

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself and my car. It’s my first Mopar for 21 years, I sold my 76 Chrysler Valiant Charger in Australia and have regretted it ever since! So I finally got the chance to put things right. This is my 69 Plymouth Barracuda. It’s a factory right hand drive exported to the UK.View attachment 1716359085View attachment 1716359086View attachment 1716359087View attachment 1716359088View attachment 1716359089View attachment 1716359090View attachment 1716359091View attachment 1716359092

It's the exclusive side to drive on;) Funnily enough, now this might be an urban myth, but I heard that the US post office ordered several models of car including jeeps and barracudas in RHD, reason being that on rural roads with spread out properties, the driver could pop the mail into the boxes without having to park and get out. So if anyone gives me stick about it I will tell them it's a postmans car.

All of our postman cars are RHD because then the mail carriers are on the side of the road where the mailboxes are... All roads, not just rural...

I the steering wheel is on the left here, then the driver is in the center of the road, if the wheel is on the right, then they are on the side of the road where the mailboxes are...

Typically the steering wheel is on the side so the driver is in the center of the road (in US, or UK) so they can see around traffic to make sure it's safe to pass is my theory... :steering:

BTW: My son married a woman from the UK... That's why I like to give you guys a hard time about the differences... :poke:

Aah he has good taste. Actually full disclosure I am an Aussie citizen, so I like to poke fun at the British too.

Haha great movie!

However, with the UK being in the northern hemisphere, the toilets swirl in the proper direction...

Not like Australia where they are in the southern hemisphere and the toilets swirl backwards...

So in Australia, the steering wheels and toilets are backwards... :realcrazy: :BangHead: :poke: :steering:

Well, at least you are in the proper hemisphere where the toilets spin correctly now... :D

We can also walk on our hands backwards. True story! :)

Ha I had a mail jeep for a couple of months bought it for $50 when the engine blew up on my truck
It was the oddest feeling passing some on the right next to a gardrail

6 months later trans blew

It was funny I remember stepping out on the side of the road once and almost rolling down the hill
Lucky i had my hand on the door

Hi Righty,

Welcome to FABO.

Saw your car on the MMA forum and very nice it is too.

Hi I sort of found it by chance, I’d been looking for an RHD Barracuda for ages with no luck and then just randomly checked the for sale page on MMA. It’s really solid, lots of things to improve if I want to. The guy I bought it from used to have Duster which he’d put a tube frame chassis into.

I think these are from the previous owner, from old photos, the indicators were positioned below the bumper.
I'm a big fan of amber rear indicators rather than red (because amber ones do a much better job keeping you out of a crash) but boy, American automakers and importers in various countries did some really sloppy, DGAF jobs of adding them onto cars not originally designed with them.

I’ve heard of at least 12 RHD cars so far.

Thiz me three decades ago in a South African 1973 Chrysler Valiant Charger 190 Sports Coupé ('71 Demon, RHD with bilingual English/Afrikaans controls, RSA-mandatory white front reflex reflectors, and a factory high-compression 2bbl 225 rated at 190 bhp). Pic taken in Cambridge, England on a very cold night, hence the frost on the car.

Dan - I assume you've looked at the photos in the UK magazine articles (reprinted in Brooklands Books).
